🚀 When artificial intelligence, science and academic cooperation join forces to tackle a global public health challenge.

Congratulations to UMONS on its participation in the KUPAMAL project, an ambitious programme aimed at strengthening the fight against malaria in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through artificial intelligence, analytical chemistry and pharmacological research.

Together with the University of Lubumbashi, the University of Kinshasa, and with the support of ARES, UMONS researchers will put their expertise at the service of a major challenge: improving malaria diagnosis and contributing to the identification of new treatments derived from Congolese medicinal plants.

This project perfectly illustrates what makes our universities strong: scientific excellence, technological innovation and the ability to develop international partnerships that serve the common good.

It also demonstrates the quality of higher education and research within the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, whose expertise is recognised far beyond our borders. Through initiatives such as KUPAMAL, our institutions make a tangible contribution to addressing global challenges while strengthening research and innovation capacities in partner countries.

Artificial intelligence is not an end in itself; it becomes a powerful lever when placed at the service of health, knowledge and sustainable development.
